Hani is wearing the Mia Dress in Ecru

The Mia dress is named after my mother, a woman with a heart as soft as the fabrics she wore. She had this signature way of dressing: long, flowing dresses layered over trousers. Often in deep black, sometimes adorned with quiet little flowers. There was something effortlessly free about her. Gentle, kind, and always entirely herself. I began dressing that way too, not as a conscious choice at first, but more like a quiet instinct. A way to feel closer to her, to keep her near in the details of my everyday. I miss her, deeply, constantly, and in creating the Mia dress, I wanted to weave more of her spirit into The New Studio. Not just as a memory, but as something living, something worn.

The New Studio began when she was still with me. At the kitchen table, surrounded by thrifted finds and cups of tea. It started small, without pressure, born from a shared love of old things and the stories they carry. She believed in me with all her heart. She was proud, the kind of proud that makes you feel like you can do anything. When I think of dresses, I think of her. Even though I don’t wear them that often myself, it’s the thought of her that feels like home. Her grace. Her warmth. Her way of finding beauty in the simple.
The Mia dress is a tribute. Made from sustainable alpaca wool, it comes in three timeless tones, black, brown, and ecru. Lightly sheer, it drapes beautifully over trousers, just as she used to wear them. Pair it with the Sofia belt or a Lia bra for a look that’s soft, strong, and full of soul.
This dress carries her name, but also her essence, a quiet celebration of all she was, and still is, in everything I create.
